Dear Friends of Goodwill,
Goodwill is able to accept clothing, household items, computers and automobiles. Over 90% of each dollar generated through the sale of donated items support Goodwill’s mission of helping people achieve their full potential through the dignity and power of work.
Although it is hard to say “No” to a valued supporter, there are some items we consider unacceptable donations:
Carpeting
- Mattress and box spring
- Large appliances (refrigerators, air conditioners, washers, dryers, water heaters, etc.)
- Building materials (windows, screens, doors, lumber, sinks, tubs, etc.)
- Oversized items such as pianos and organs
- Pool tables
- Hospital beds, sleeper sofas
- Tires and wheels
- Flammable, toxic materials, magazines, newspapers
- Business telephone systems
- Furniture with rips, tears, soil, stains or in obvious need of repair
- Electronic items in need of repair
- Oil stands and tanks, oxygen tanks, propane tanks and paint
- Live plants or animals
- Outdated or recalled cribs, carriers, car seats or car seats involved in an accident
- Fire arms and ammunition
- Paint ball guns
All of the items we do not accept are considered “Not Salable” in our stores. Having these items removed from our properties costs Goodwill thousands of dollars each year reducing the funding for our much needed mission services.
Please do not leave items outside our donation centers after hours because they will be exposed to the elements and may be vandalized or stolen.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding on our donation guidelines. Thank you for your support and choosing to donate to Goodwill Industries.
