Car Donations
Don't haggle during trade-in or have strangers come to your house. Donate your car to Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina today! You will receive a great tax deduction helping Goodwill find jobs for people.

Every donated vehicle is resold at public auction or used to help indivduals with transportation to and from work.  Revenue generated from the auction of donated vehicles supports employment training and job placement services for thousands of people in the Lowcountry.

Donating a vehicle is a donor-friendly process that can take place at your nearest Goodwill Retail Store.  To donate your car, please follow these easy steps:

1. Ensure that your car  meets the following criteria:
• Titled in your name 
• Paid for with no liens
• Titled with your state's Department of Motor Vehicle
  
  
2. Contact Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina's Transportation department at (843) 566-0072 or (888) 560-0072 to coordinate your automobile donation.
    
3. Complete the attached forms:
• Vehicle Donor Form View Form
• Power of Attorney View Form
  
  
4. If driveable, take  the car and title to your nearest Goodwill Retail Store and fill out the accompanying forms. 
   
   
5. If the car is not driveable, go to your nearest Goodwill Retail Store with the title of the car.  The title and forms are required to be filled out at a Goodwill Retail Store and left there.  The keys to the car should remain with the vehicle and be given to the towing company at the time of pick up.  Your car will be towed to the auction lot at no cost to you. 
   
   
6. Once the vehicle has been sold at auction or donated to an individual, you will receive the required tax deduction documentation that meets IRS guidelines.

January 1, 2005, the IRS issued changes to federal tax treatment of vehicle donations.  The attached Vehicle Donation Fact Sheet will summarize changes to the laws.
